    Growing up in the Midwest, I was captivated by beauty. Through college, graduate school, and my early career in university administration, I knew I wanted some involvement in the beauty industry. Later, I enrolled in an Aveda Certified Esthetics Program in Chicago and adored it. There is something so inspirational in helping people feel their best. Also, no one can deny the power of beautifully manicured brows.

    Over time, my desire to travel and explore the world drove me to get my first passport (at 30!). My first journey took me to Australia, as a solo-traveler, and I was enthralled. Australia was everything I imagined, and more. I adore the excitement of packing, researching, and exploring. While meeting new people, eating new foods, and learning the local culture (beauty culture too!) really energizes me. That first trip has evolved into 17 countries and five continents. I eventually made the leap and moved to Madrid, Spain in September 2018. While Madrid will always have a place in my heart, we made the executive decision to move to Lisbon, Portugal in June 2023 as it was really the best place to launch EBA. I really feel as though Europe is my adopted home.

    After spending time in Madrid and learning more about the European beauty culture, I started a waxing and skincare consultation studio; as well as a beauty resource and recommendation network for expats like myself (Beauty Abroad Madrid and Beauty Abroad Portugal on Facebook). Further, I discovered there is an untapped opportunity to help new beauty professionals. I am so excited to share my passion for the beauty industry and international living with you all!

  • Assistant Director of Vibes & Cuddles

    A native Spaniard rescued prior to the pandemic, Kiki’s cuddles and good nature have enchanted many a customer of the waxing studio, new friends in the airport and train station (this girl loves to travel!), as well as the local Lisbon community. She is considered a fundamental member of the EBA team, advising on treats, the positive benefits of a long walk, and siestas.
